Grape Varieties
Outer Coastal Plain growers cultivate a wide range of grape varieties. There were over 50 varieties being grown commercially, including both vinifera and hybrid grapes. The top five grape varieties grown in the OCP based on acreage are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Chambourcin. Collectively these top five varieties account for approximately 40% of the acreage.
